HIALEAH, FL. - The ASA Miami men's soccer team has advanced to the semifinal of the NJCAA District/FCSAA State Soccer Tournament for the second time in three years. This season, ASA was able to edge out Broward College for the third spot in the Region thanks to goal differential among Region VIII opponents. With Eastern Florida finishing atop the standings in the regular season, they earn a bye and advance to the final on Sunday, October 29. The Titans will await their opponent when with the Silver Storm travel to Daytona State, who finished second on Wednesday, October 25.
ASA and Daytona have played twice this season with the Falcons sweeping the season series. The first of the two games, which took place in Hialeah went back and forth. ASA would let this one slip away after Daytona cashed in on a controversial penalty kick in the second overtime period. A few days prior to that game, ASA gave up a goal against Eastern in the 88' minute.
The Silver Storm will rely on Anderson Delubac offensively, who leads the team with three goals and two assists. Goalkeeper Juan Maximiliano Rocco has had a strong year for ASA saving 71 percent of shots taken by opponents.
