MILLEDGEVILLE, GA – ASA College-Miami’s bid to capture a victory against another junior college team this season fell by the wayside Saturday.
The Silver Storm couldn’t overcome a handful of costly turnovers and fell to host Georgia Military College 21-13 in Milledgeville, Georgia.
ASA Miami (4-5), which will close out the 2018 regular season at home next Saturday against Louisiana Lamar Postgraduate Sports Academy, turned the ball over three times Saturday – the costliest of which being a muffed punt in the end zone late in the second quarter that Georgia Military recovered for a score, extending the Bulldogs’ lead to 21-7 before halftime.
It was the second matchup between the two programs this season, with GMC picking up a 35-7 win over the Silver Storm in Miami on September 29. ASA has never been able to get the best of the Bulldogs since the teams began playing against one another in 2015. Including Saturday’s game, Georgia Military has won all seven meetings by a combined score of 237-101.
ASA’s only victory over another JuCo team came during the 2015 season – the Silver Storm’s inaugural season – when ASA Miami topped ASA College New York 17-16. Ironically enough, current ASA Miami head coach Chris Boden was the head coach of the ASA New York team that yielded the Silver Storm’s first and only victory over another JuCo program.
